“My situation is never gonna get better.” … “Things are just so hard.” … “What am I gonna do?”
Every day the team hears comments like this coming from someone in our office looking for help. You can make a difference and show these families that there is someone who cares, and that it isn’t impossible to improve their situation. Genesis can sometimes best be described as “messy ministry”, and Genesis’ most valuable asset is YOU! You, the mentor, represent something that our families may not have ever had before; a healthy relationship and role model. How cool is that?!? Think about it… just by agreeing to meet with someone for 45 minutes, you are already impact their life.
Mentors provide so much help to our Genesis families. Most importantly, mentors provide a healthy relationship for our families. Mentors also provide things like support, advice, and time. These few things are so simple yet so valuable.
To be a Genesis mentor, you only need to be able to commit 45 minutes of your time every other week, and have a want to help someone else! How hard is that??
This year, our team has matched 21 families with mentors willing to make a difference. That is so GREAT! Thank you so much for everyone’s support. However, as great as that accomplishment is for those 21 families, the demand for mentors is high. Today there are 4 more families looking for mentors to work with them, and more applications come in all the time.
