Celebrating a Difference Maker: Joel Cook

For more than 35 years, The Community Outreach has been blessed with generous and skilled volunteer leaders.  People who understand the many challenges people face physically and spiritually … and who have stepped up to make a difference! This month we would like to thank and celebrate … Joel Cook!

 Joel Cook

Joel attends Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and has been on our Board for 3 years.  He is employed by Jim Dunham & Associates as their controller.  In addition to being an active Board member, he serves as our Treasurer and on our Executive and Finance Committees.

Joel learned about this ministry through his congregation and when asked why he said yes when asked to serve with us he shared, “Having seen the success of Genesis teams from my church, and after learning of the tremendous amount of crisis care provided by The Community Outreach, I wanted to do what I could to preserve and expand the scope of this ministry.”

In addition to serving on our Board, Joel has also made a difference by serving through: Sioux Land Lions Club; the Advisory Board of Prison Congregations of America; and the Council of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  He speaks so highly of Sioux Falls and shared his personal hope and vision “That the many blessings of this community might be shared richly by all.”

Thank you so much Joel for so generously sharing your gifts of leadership, time, and money to this ministry … and for making a real difference in so many people’s lives!!!
