Housing Assistance and Utility Cut-off Prevention
Because we seek to ‘fill the gaps’ in available government assistance, people needing emergency assistance must first seek assistance from the Minnehaha Department of Human Services at 521 North Main Avenue. Please click on the Referral Flow Chart link to the left of this page and follow the process of seeking assistance. When public resources cannot meet the need, our housing and utility assistance programs strive to assist with rent and first month’s deposit or utility shut-offs (when funds are available and clients meet requirements of assistance).
We have a limited number of bus passes and gas vouchers that can be provided to people who are in active job search and enrolled with the Department of Labor’s Career Services or who have obtained a job, but have not yet received your first paycheck.
