Have you thought about your plans for Christmas this year? Christmas is a time for joy, happiness, and a celebration of newness in all things. For many families, newness means many gifts stacked under a tree with the latest action figure or trying a new recipe to try for a large feast.
But you have also seen what Christmas can look like for families who are struggling first hand as a donor and supporter of Sharing Christmas. Over the past year, more low income families are experiencing lost hours, a crisis, or high housing costs in the Sioux Falls community. Through your help with Sharing Christmas, you can help bring some warmth and holiday cheer to a family who truly is in need this year.
Families are grateful for your support. One family wrote, “I am a single mom. I have moved in with my grandma and am still on maternity leave. My baby is 1 month old. Any help is appreciated.” Another family shared, “Due to child illness, my husband has had to cut back his hours to be home more with our daughter.”
Sharing Christmas provides for the basic needs of hundreds of families every year, but the need continues to grow. Last year over 200 more people applied for help than could be matched. With your help, it is our prayer that no family has an unmet need this Christmas through the adoption process or in donating to the new Christmas Store!
The Christmas Store provides parents the chance to shop and provide Christmas gifts for their family with pride and the ability to choose for their children. Toys that are donated will be set up and sold at a greatly reduced rate of 10% the retail value. For a family in need, they can shop with dignity. For the donor, you will directly help a family care for the needs of their family while promoting self-sufficiency.
Help share newness of hope to families by being a Sharing Christmas sponsor this year. Most sponsors choose to directly meet with the family they are supporting, but it is not required. Through your support, you will be given the opportunity to meet the need of a family as you share your Christmas and the reason for your joy this season in Christ Jesus.
Thank you to all of our wonderful donors!
