WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH?

The Community Outreach is an ecumenical ministry that connects people in need with people who want to help.  Churches, the Sioux Empire United Way, businesses, and individuals partner together to focus on crisis financial assistance for housing, utilities, and work-related transportation … referrals to other community resources … and education/mentoring. With 1 out of 10 residents in the Sioux Empire at or below the officially recognized poverty level, chances are you or someone you know is looking to break this cycle of poverty.  Many more are experiencing financial stress due to a life change … medical, unemployment, and other potentially overwhelming events. Thank you for joining us as His servants in reaching out to the poor!

How can YOU make a difference?

We need your support to continue to care for others!

1) One very important way to help is to serve as a volunteer mentor.  By getting trained to meet with a family 12 times over an 18 week period, you will help a family make some very important changes in the way they set personal goals, follow a household budget, and interact with others.  You will serve in a team of 2 to 5 mentors to share your knowledge and personal experience with a family who really wants your help.  To get involved, download the Mentor/Volunteer Policies and Mentor/Volunteer Application or give us a call at 605-331-3935.

2) Another way is to make a tax deductivble financial gift.  We will use your gift to meet a housing, utility cut-off, or work related transportation need for someone in the Sioux Empire.

Together … we will make a difference in His name!
